    Valorant Racism, bans and more

    Posted: 31 Oct 2020 02:33 AM PDT

I am a black man, and every few games I have a guy on my team who thinks it's ok to call me the N word, not knowing I'm black. I reported these people. But I would love it if there was any confirmation that my reports did something. Something like OW has where it says that my report actually did something, cause I feel like my reports aren't doing anything. Racism/sexism and stuff like that has always been a problem. But I feel like it's really bad in Valorant.

ValoPlant 1.1 is here (incl. drawing, Skye, vision cones and more) [Desktop only]

    Posted: 31 Oct 2020 09:21 AM PDT

    ValoPlant 1.1 is out now!

ValoPlant is a website that allows you to create strategies on all maps released so far. After creating a lobby, you can invite your mates via the URL or the invite button. You can then drag and drop abilities and agents onto the map, which updates everyone else's lobbies in real time.

    Here's the new stuff:

First off, drawing - by pressing either the draw button on the bottom right or by pressing CTRL, you can switch between drawing and object mode. During drawing mode, a small menu with different options as well as an eraser pops up. Also, in drawing mode you can't scroll on the map and place/move objects around. You pretty much have to switch between the two modes constantly to create strategies efficiently – hence the CTRL keyboard shortcut. Once you get the hang of it, you'll love it!

There were some other highly requested features such as vision cones, general icons and obviously the spike – these got added to a toolbox which means that yes, you can finally plant the spike in ValoPlant.

The second big feature this time around is the playbook. You can save an infinite amount of strategies into your personal playbook and use them at a later date. The only problem is that this feature can be quite costly on the server-side and thus, this feature, as well as some other cool features that are coming down the line (such as animated abilities), are locked behind a small paywall (smiliar to other freemium apps). The pro membership will also transfer to the iOS/Android apps, so you wouldn't have to pay for it again. However, I currently can't activate the monetization since I still need to wait for Riot's OK on this.

The big vision for ValoPlant is to have complete interoperability between mobile, web and the ingame overlay version – meaning that someone could join the lobby via the mobile app, your teammate might use the ingame overlay etc. You could even create strategies on the go and use/refine them once your back home!

Enough talk, get out there and enjoy drawing as many eggplant-shaped objects as your heart desires!

P.S.: I opened up a Discord server to report bugs, throw around ideas etc. Feel free to join =)

Hey y'all!! Im new to this subreddit and I thought my first post should be some fanart I made a couple months ago. Idea to combat leavers

    Posted: 31 Oct 2020 12:06 PM PDT

I got the idea of seriously deterring leavers by requiring leavers to finish a full unrated match before being able to queue up into another competitive game.

If they leave an unrated game, same rule applies. If they get disconnected from a game, its best that they're able to finish a full game before they hop into another comp game.

It may cause a big spike in leavers in unrated, but my solution would be the queue timer ban, except that the timer only starts ticking down after they relog and start the timer, that was people will really reconsider leaving the game. And if they're trolls, they would have to relog into the game to start the timer, then wait; its a small extra step but I feel will be effective.

Let me know if you see any clear issues with this that I've overlooked... just an idea to separate the good community and the negative players.

GG to all teams that played today. Great performance coming out from all teams and congratulations to C9 for coming first. Was very fun and entertaining to watch the teams play against each other and creating entertainment for the viewers and also giving us heart attacks from all the clutch rounds and amazing plays.

I made it to Immortal from Gold

    Posted: 30 Oct 2020 04:36 PM PDT

    Act 1 rank dorito

Since I filled it out it starts at Gold 2, but I believe I either started in Silver 3 or Gold 1.

All I'm going to say is that you really don't need much to do really good in this game, if you can aim, have good comms, and good positioning, you're probably already a high diamond player.

I'd say the biggest difference between lower ranks and high ranks is predictability. In Immortal/high diamond, people are very predictable, because they do the best play their situation allows. In lower ranks, people pull off dumb plays that can often work out because you don't expect them. The best way to climb isn't to aim train, or learn 50 line ups with Sova, it's to just play the game, and maybe practice crosshair placement.

Also high Gold and Platinum are absolutely an Elo hell for everyone.

    Being nice isn’t that hard

    Posted: 30 Oct 2020 04:31 PM PDT

I feel like when I went from plat to diamond this problem stopped. People in diamond don't trash talk for you doing bad very often, and I dare say it is one of the reasons some people even hit it. Having a positive attitude can change everything, trash talk encourages the person to think they are bad, and will therefore make them play as such. Being positive will make them think they can do better, and will therefore result in such. It is amazing how in plat I would never be able to turn a bad game around, "you're fucking dogshit" "you're terrible". In diamond all I hear is "You'll get em next time" or "nice try" and even the immortals do such. Honestly such a small thing can cause you to play better and once you understand that I personally believe you will become a better player and better for your team. Sincerely, Someone that wants a better community

How toxic is Valorant’s competitive scene today?

    Posted: 31 Oct 2020 11:08 AM PDT

I recently got into playing Valorant, and am having a pretty great time. I've only been playing deathmatch and unranked, but it's been really really fun. I expected it to be toxic, as I've heard it can be, but instead I've met a bunch of awesome people in unranked. I've found myself laughing so hard my chest hurts. it's been great. And for the most part, I haven't gotten any shit for being a girl, or for being black. I've actually met a bunch of other players who are girls as well. Basically, unranked seems cool and welcoming. I've killed teammates on accident, fucked up their line of sight, made some terrible plays, and people are always nice about it.

So my question is, does this translate over to competitive? I felt similar to how I am feel now with Overwatch a few years back, killing it in quick play, and deciding to try out competitive. Whewwww did they call me names. I got thicker skin the longer I played, but while I was still figuring out the game, it was incredibly unpleasant. But I heard that Valorant was toxic all over, and I personally have never had that experience. Is playing competitive even worth it if you aren't 100% solid on the game, or if you aren't the "typical gamer?"

    Smurf Report Option

    Posted: 31 Oct 2020 01:58 AM PDT

I am a lowly Silver III player casually being trash with my fellow garbage brethren. We get matched against a group composed of 5 Silvers. Proceeded to get smacked 13-1 with only one enemy dying more than 3 times. Quick conversation in all chat and they revealed they are radiant smurfs. What's the fix?
