Since the top streams in the Valorant category on twitch are usually the same guys and a few girls with rarely a Pro Player inbetween, I went on a hunt for twitch stream links for the best teams in the world. And since lockdown and wfh, I just did my work, and got high in my free times. Now I play Valorant, and sometimes I played when I was high and I realised how slow I actually am when I'm high, compared to what I thought... People would come, one tap me and leave and I could do nothing, my decisions were bad, my confidence was broken.. and now I hate getting high, cause I can't play Valorant then... I sometimes still end up getting high and playing Valorant, and it makes me hate it even more. I'll soon quit, leaving my shared flat for good. Defence was considerably harder, but we still barely managed to pull through and I even got my third ever ace on the second last round, giving us the momentum we needed to win. Final round came to a 1v1 camping spike against Raze. I was in a bad position but the clock was low and I knew where she was coming from. Grenade on spike to stall for time, she sent her boombot in the wrong of two directions and I just barely caught her off guard. It was such a rush, never had that much fun in such a poorly stacked game. Oh for those curious I'm Iron 2. Nobody to play with so I'm stuck in Iron/Bronze hell when I get a bad team on ranked. | My parents watched the finals with me and I couldn’t be happier Posted: 06 Dec 2020 06:04 PM PST Like seriously, they knew nothing about the game going in, and I was able to explain the basics of what the goal of VALORANT was, and how each team was and it was fantastic. I didn't get into the depth of the games economy or what each character does ability-wise, but both my parents who aren't computer savvy asked lots of questions and genuinely got into it when I told them I was cheering for "the red team" (100T). I recently uprooted my life of leaving a full time job and a live-in girlfriend to move back home and reset, and the fact they took so much interest in something I was watching made me feel really good. None of my friends are into E-Sports, so the fact I got to talk to someone in my life about it - even the bare bones - was really fun. I told them that as well. I just thought I would share here thinking maybe someone else could relate to my situation. I just love them so much for taking an interest in something that's so far out of their realm, because I enjoy it. Took a little pause from Valorant before trying out the new season, but my aim is rusty AF so i demoted to plat 3 and im getting BULLIED when people see my previous rank. My teammates thinks that im gonna automatically carry them since i was immortal, and starts getting toxic/flame when I miss my shots or cant carry them. Last FPS patch was in June 2020, and I hope Episode 2 comes out with FPS optimizations as game has become very unstable and stuttery with frames. Having stable 250+ at release to 160-170 now is a big dip. Im at Ryzen 2700x and 1070ti with 3200mhz 16gb ram. What are your specs and how much FPS did you lose/gain since release? Her kit is really useful for both offensive and defensive plays, but it definitely has its problems in higher up play. I think each of her abilities it incredibly strong, but still each one has its drawbacks. I've been talking to my friends and these are some buffs we think viper deserves. im not saying all of these buffs is what viper needs, but some would be nice Poison/Toxic Meter This is the only part of her kit that I feel like is perfectly balanced right now. She starts off with 100, the bars consumption and recharge is reasonable. Nothing to change here except maybe changing the "100" on the bar to an amount of seconds, but that's really not needed if you get a feel for how long the smokes last. Toxin Screen This ability is why I think viper is such a great character. The ability to wall off practically the entire map (or at the very least massive parts of it) can be incredibly strong. Even if the decay damage it deals on going through it is minimal, being able to move around your wall is a valuable skill that can get you a lot of kills. That being said, it has one big counter: "lol just move away from it". Take ascent for example: a wall that I usually use goes from covering the doorway from b main, to covering mid bottom and then finally a link. It's great at denying access to B, but like I said, it's hard counter is to just not go b. It's stationary. If you can predict where the enemy goes, it's great. Otherwise, it's a wasted ability. Something I think would be great is a one-time use retract on her wall. Now, this could be an additional thing you buy at the beginning of the round, or it could just be part of her kit. This would make her much more viable to rotates and sight retakes than just using her toxic cloud. Speaking of... Toxic Cloud This ability is amazing. It's any viper's best friend. Whether you use it to deny sight to the enemy, your own personal mini-ult, a one way, and even weakening the enemy post-plant, it's used cannot be understated. It's very mobile, unlike the wall, and that can be used to great effect as well. I'm perfectly ok with the amount of cool down the pick up, it feels not too long, but it's definitely not too short to be broken. Anyways, let's get onto some things I think would be good for it (even though personally I think it's fine where it is). There are three main buffs that come to mind- one, you could make her the true one-way king and make the orb sticky. I've heard this a lot from others, but personally I don't like it. It'd ruin a lot of lineups, and a one ways are easily countered after just waiting the orb to stop or by rotating away. Speaking of lineups, another buff (the one I want) would be to make lineups easier. Essentially, on the minimap it would show where the orb would land, plus it's effective area, even if you were looking up. Omen and brim both have incredibly precise smokes, but viper has a throwable. If they were to give her precision on par with those two with her orb, she would be even better. Omen and brim also have more than one smoke. Now yes, you can pick it up, but if you use it as a sight blocker or use it for a lineup it's often out of reach. A potential buff it a recall, not a pickup. This would allow her to use her orb more generously. Now for the last ability, Snake Bite This is the perfect mulley. Mondo damage. Weakening effect. Two charges. IMO it's the best mulley, but for a lot of viper player, it's not the best. What I'm talking about are the post-plant lineups. There is no process that is more tedious than having to learn a bunch of viper lineups. It hurts. And even then, you're limited to having to go to one spot, line it up, and shoot. It's a slow and vulnerable process that has huge payoffs. What I'm saying is, why not make lineups irrelevant? I think that if you ignore every other buff I said here and only put in the following, viper would be balanced. The buff is simple, much like the poison orb, you can see where it will land on the minimap as you aim it. This would be broken, no doubt. Some ways you could balance it is to remove a snake bite, lower it's damage, or lower it's throw velocity. I think this would make the ease of playing viper go waaayyyy up, and have her be far more appealing to the casual player who don't want to learn the tedious lineups. Vipers pit God I love this ability. Throwing your wall and orb down, and on top of the already confusing and damaging toxic maze, you throw this massive pit? It's so nice. This is one of the best ults in the game, if you know how to use it correctly. I think it's perfectly fine where it is. If I were to buff any part of it (which I wouldn't) the only thing I don't like is how slow it deploys. But that only limits the amount of aggressive plays you can Make with it, the defense Potential is still outstanding. The gameplay was much more exciting and intense when you hear a reaver or prime kill sound. According to vlr.gg, his pick rate was 98%, 95%, 95%, 96%, 95% and 90% in First Strike NA, EU, BR, KR, CIS and Japan, respectively. Brimstone, on the other hand, had 2%, 5%, 5%, 4%, 5% and 10%, in the same regions. Obviously Omen + Brim pickrates result in 100% because team comps really need smokes (despite Liquid attempt to play without it in the past). So, in my opinion, Omen is not OP, but is clearly a better option than Brimstone, and since every team needs smokes, his pick rate is inflated. Riot should look for buffing Brimstone, releasing a new agent that can smoke, or both. My Brimstone buff suggestion is to begin with making his animations faster, for more reactive plays. We are in a good agent usage distribution, even Viper is being picked in a few games, Sage got back some love and people will figure how to play Skye. But it is not cool to have one agent that is a must pick, and right now Omen is a big must (with Bind being and exception). Posted: 07 Dec 2020 06:19 AM PST I feel that a lot of the things that people post here are repetitive and this can be cut down if we had a daily thread where you are free to ask questions/rant/have a discussion. An automated bot could just put it up and people won't have to make posts to ask about every little thing. Some of the things don't require 100+ words or whatever the limit is believe it or not. If I have some questions about some interaction in the game, I'd like to be able to ask that in a daily thread instead of posting it as a separate post. What do you guys think? Posted: 07 Dec 2020 07:04 AM PST So whenever I play with other people I usually always bottom frag and have a terrible kd, yesterday I played with my low Iron 3 friend when I was in bronze 2 and bottom fragged miserably but whenever I solo-que I usually always have a positive kd and at least 3rd frag even with silvers and golds. In fact I used to be silver 1 and now I'm bronze 2 just because of duo-queing, just why is this happening and how do I fix it? | What's the point of ranked at the moment? Posted: 07 Dec 2020 05:27 AM PST I just no longer get it. At the moment, I see little to no difference at all between ranked and unrated. I used to think ranked was a place where one could usually get close matches because there is something that (ideally) more or less objectively indicates your skill level. Hence, by being paired up with people of similar skill level one should be on close matches more often than rarely. What I've got lately is just a bunch of games where nobody communicates (gold), there is always someone who gets +150 match points above the second fragger (who outplays everybody), complete lack of coordination and a pretty big skill gap between one team and the other. All this just makes ranked games completely frustrating and boring. And I think this even on those games where I end up being match mvp, because it just makes no sense that I can top frag on a gold 2+ lobby and be bottom fragger on a silver 2- lobby the game after. I feel that ranked got completely random these last patches and I hope I'm not the only one experiencing this because that would mean Riot should definitely do something about it. Posted: 07 Dec 2020 08:00 AM PST To help new esports players, I asked a few coaches and managers what they look for in a player besides its pure ability to aim. Basically, besides talent, he needs to complete his team with his own experience and individual view. Every player is part of the whole team in terms of decision-making to really bring out the best in every game from day to day. The biggest thing I look for besides aim is dedication. Growing up playing sport I quickly learned that the difference between a great player and a good player is huge and it's the dedication that sets them apart. Mentality: How the player reacts to certain situations (for example defeats) if he rages a lot when he dies if he doesn't care at all about winning or not and if the players outside the games still think what he should do to improve.
