Video trial weeks - Week 2: 15 second minimums for directly linked videos

    Posted: 15 Feb 2021 01:58 AM PST

    Hello there!

If you're not currently aware already, we're doing a multi-week trial evaluating the effect of different rules relating to videos on the subreddit.

This week, any video posts are subject to the following rules:

All clips allowed, as long as they are longer than 15 seconds and as long as they do not violate any of our other rules (such as our relevancy rule). If they are shorter than 15 seconds, they must be posted as a link in a text post with 100 characters minimum of additional context (spam or throwaway text will be removed and met with warnings/bans)

    Week 1 Discussion

Please let us know what you think about the subreddit during this week by discussing in the comments. At the end of the week, we'll also open up an official survey where you can more formally state your opinion of the subreddit during the week. If you'd like to be recommended by a DM when this survey becomes available, click here.

As a reminder from the announcement post, we're asking everything to give their opinion even if it is as simple as "I like it" or "meh" or "I don't like it". The more data points we have, the better we can eventually end up on a set of rules that satisfies.

Ranked rating deductions when dodging a game

    Posted: 15 Feb 2021 08:46 AM PST

In the new patch update, you might lose rating for dodging a game which i think should not happen.

Why? So if people just insta lock duelists i should just play with them? What if in agent select you already find toxic teammates should i just play with them? I think the dodging timeout is already enough and i don't find dodging a game bigger problem than AFKs.

100T Steel’s Instructional Videos are among the best

    Posted: 15 Feb 2021 10:01 AM PST

I've been subbed to Steel for a long time, and his first instructional Valorant videos were okay (He seemed a bit nervous/uncomfortable with presenting), but they literally get exponentially better with each and every upload. His latest omen video was STELLAR, and gives great insight on how the agent is used in pro meta (And how it can be applied in ranked games, at any level).

If you haven't watched any of his videos, I'd strongly recommend it. Superb instructional content!!

Are Duelists the Most Toxic Role?

    Posted: 15 Feb 2021 07:02 AM PST

First 3 clips were taken from 2 days of playing. Teammates like these are not uncommon.

It's genuinely difficult to rank up when teammates become toxic to each other or just give up all together.

Fix your mental, keep a level head, hype up your teammates, win more games. As simple as that.

New Game Mode leaked in Arabic VAL blog

    Posted: 15 Feb 2021 11:04 AM PST

    https://playvalorant.com/ar-ae/news/game-updates/new-valorant-mode-escalation/

    Translation:

    Escalation

Kill opponents and race with them using a series of different weapons and abilities to advance with your teammates through 12 Escalation levels. A win in an Escalation goes to the team that finishes the 12 levels first or the team that goes further in the levels within 10 minutes.

Although this is a team mode of play, you must do your own part to complete each level.

In addition to helping your team gain the points necessary to complete each level, you must also achieve at least one kill using each weapon / ability to advance on a personal level, even if your team has already reached a higher level in Escalation.

    Rules:

    • 5v5 gameplay
    • 12 Escalation Levels (each level has a specific weapon or ability)
    • The win goes to the team that finishes the 12 levels, or who reaches the highest level in 10 minutes.
    • The team as a whole must earn 7 points in each level to move to the next level
    • Killing in the current level earns 1 point
    • Killing in a previous level earns 0.5 points
    • Each player has an individual weapon level that they work to complete
    • You will have to achieve at least 1 kill using each weapon to unlock the next weapon level
    • Your squad will still be able to advance on escalation levels even if you are within an older weapon level

Example: Your team can be at Level 4, with the possibility of you remaining being "stuck" at Weapon Level 1 (let's say it's a Vandal), until you achieve 1 kill with that weapon. You will then advance to Weapon Level 2, not directly to Level 4.

    • Matches are 7-9 minutes long
    • Agent abilities that are based on your agent cannot be used. Rather, only basic abilities can be used by all players during the match (see Gear section below).
    • Fast reboots (with immunity to damage in the first 5 seconds)

    Escalation gear:

Level 1: Always either the Raze's Rocket Launcher or Vandal / Phantom Weapon

Level 2: Always either Vandal or Phantom.

Levels 3-11: a variety of weapons and abilities.

Level 12: possibly shorty, classic, knife, shock dart ... or even a snowball thrower

Health: A health bag is dropped upon death, and it will expire in 10 seconds

    Gain experience Escalation points

Play the game, and you'll get 800 experience points for completing each match, plus 200 experience points when you win.

How long will Escalation game mode be available?

This gameplay is currently in the LTM (Limited Time Mode) category. We always improve our offerings of play styles according to the nature of the players' interaction with them. But in the meantime, indulge yourself in playing this mode so you don't miss the chance.

Don’t Hesitate to Report If You Smell Something Fishy!

    Posted: 15 Feb 2021 11:23 AM PST

Yesterday during an unrated match, my wife and I were getting stumped by the enemy Jett. She was wide-swing-one-tapping us and clearing corners like a well-trained K9. She had 20+ kills by the time we switched side. She even taunted us in the chat, said something along the line of "who put bots on easy?" I thought the Jett was just good at this game, but my wife was not having it. So she reported her ass and guess what, rito daddy came to the rescue.

Moral of the story: report if you smell something fishy and listen to your wife.

Thank you for coming to my TED Talk.
