Exercise between games for better aim and mental clarity.

    Posted: 09 Aug 2020 05:59 AM PDT

The last few days I've been doing 1 push up for each death after a game of Valorant. For the record I have not actively worked out since high school and this has been great. You can vary the exercises for example take your deaths and x2 for crunches, plank for x2 deaths. If you have a group of friends you play with get them into it too so you're not doing it alone.

Here are some reasons to give this a try:

    1. Its a break from the game and an excuse to get up. Long sessions of sitting are bad for back posture and blood flow.
    2. The endorphins released from physical exercise help prevent fatigue and promote mental clarity. My aim has improved along with my mood overall in all my games.
    3. Its VERY helpful to de-tilt between games. Angry or frustrated about that damn Brim who didn't pop a single smoke the whole ranked game? Do some push ups.
    4. Any physical exercise is good for those who typically don't work out regularly.

To anyone reading this who is skeptical. I DARE you to try it. Whats the worst that can happen?

    Hello /r/Valorant,

Valorant Tracker Here! We were lucky enough to be given official API access in the first wave!

Today, we launch our site that is available for all with no apps required! There are however some limitations:

    • You have to log in with your Riot account to make your stats public (unless you are Radiant or Immortal ranked, then your stats are public)
    • Historical data is not loaded but will be there in the future. The Riot API lets us download your last 10 matches at the moment. We're working on scraping all of your matches to build you a full profile.

    Link to demo profile: https://tracker.gg/valorant/profile/riot/BRRRRRRR%20Anuel%20%23EUW/overview

Since we released our site during the Beta, the following was added:

    • A detailed player profile.
    • Leaderboards based on each available stats.
    • Community video guides library (you can upload yours too!).
    • Global stats for agents and maps.
    • OBS Overlay.

We also have a robust in-game overlay, letting you view your stats, performance analysis, video guides based on the agent or map you play, and more. Click here to get more details and download!

We worked in coordination with the Developers Relations team at Riot so far, and we are thankful for them giving us the opportunity to get access to the API at this point.

I would also like to thank the community for all the great feedback we received so far, so thank you! And feel free to share with us any thoughts or questions.

Critical failure of recoil patterns between projected server-side and visual client-side. Live EU/NA

    Posted: 09 Aug 2020 09:08 AM PDT

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7-D2zW6NHd8

This is probably the cause of the widespread visual hit-reg issues in this game. No idea what is causing this.

This was tested with multiple people, on both regions. Ping is not a deciding factor in this bug.

Reposted to comply with sub's guidelines.

    Edit: Short explanation.

The serversided(actual, on the right) recoil is different from the clientsided(visual, on the left) recoil. This makes it effectively impossible to compensate for recoil correctly as the server will be shooting your gun in a different direction than what is displayed to your client. Before ping is accused; there are points in the video where the server itself displays recoil patterns before the client does, and also the server/client compensating in opposite directions multiple times/for different periods of time.

This bug is not apparent when you first start a match. You have to spray for a while to trigger it, then most sprays afterwards will be effected.

How To Play Killjoy On Haven. I hope this helps!

PSA: You can see wallbang and ability damage numbers on Combat Report

    Posted: 09 Aug 2020 08:15 AM PDT

i noticed that a lot of people don't know this so I thought I'd point it out.

After you die, and the Combat Report shows up on the right side, you can middle click to toggle the cursor and then hover over whoever killed you.

This will tell you the summary of damage (ex. 50 dmg from molly, 60 damage from a 2 wallbang shots, etc) It will tell you how many shots went through a wall in order to hit them, and how many shots they hit on you through the wall.

Pretty helpful for analyzing/figuring out what went wrong or what happened. Hope it helped!

Please for the love of God, stop flaming teammates in unrated play, especially teammates new to the game. It’s really uncalled for.

    Posted: 08 Aug 2020 08:15 PM PDT

Valorant is a fairly new TFPS (Tactical First Person Shooter) and on top of that, it's free. New players take a dive into the game every single day, and where is the first mode they go into? Unrated. It even states that it is normal Valorant gameplay with 0 competitive elements and points. We see a lot of newer players come into the game and essentially get paired with others of varying skill level.

Especially when these people pair with other friends playing the game for the first time, they will get paired with other people that are 3-5 stacking, and therefore have higher skill level teammates. For the love of god, please don't trash talk these people. I've encountered so many times (both when I was bad and other times in the future) where I pair with extremely toxic teammates who just trash every single move these people do. We get it, they might not be that good but you have to remember a lot of varying things.

    1. You're playing unrated, this isn't competitive. Obviously you are supposed to take games seriously no matter the mode, but there is a fine line. Things like swinging with teammates and the right times to use your abilities might seem like common knowledge to YOU, but might not be common knowledge to these new people.

    2. It really is unwanted toxicity. It gets you nowhere, and in a team based shooter where everyone has to work together strongly, it can bring down everyone's mood extremely low and can lose you rounds.

    3. Instead of flaming them to hell and back, give them tips instead. Tell them how to improve their game sense, and how to properly use abilities, etc. Things like omens smokes, and sages wall take proper timing and placement, so show them how to use the abilities to their fullest potential rather than flaming them for not knowing how to use them despite the fact they're new.

    4. Even if they're not new, you need to understand everyone has their bad days. I can't count how many times I've played like shit either because I'm doing bad, or just cause I'm tired.

To these types of posts, I often see the response "Block them and move on, it's just someone being rude". Realistically, this could be a viable option, but we are playing Valorant here. A 5v5 teambased shooter with friendly fire ON for abilities. Throwing rounds and killing with abilities is fully possible, so muting and blocking isn't really an option, unless you want them killing you and throwing rounds on purpose.

I've been called slurs, and all kinds of different things just for not clutching like 1v4's despite having a ghost on a save round, or something of the sort. Just please don't flame in unrated, or any mode for that matter. Mostly unrated, due to the fact that it's unrated at the end of the day, and doesn't matter in the slightest, and just used for fun/practice.

You should be able to play any agent in custom games

    Posted: 09 Aug 2020 10:33 AM PDT

Idk why this isn't already a thing. Since there are already cheats like the shooting range, there should be one to access all agentslike the shooting range . Also, this will be the only time to try out agents against other people.

there is a higher gap between the accuracy of the phantom and the vandal than you think

    Posted: 08 Aug 2020 08:21 PM PDT

there is a higher gap between the accuracy of the phantom and the vandal than you think

(disclaimer: more accurate calculations in comments)

You might look at the fsa of the phantom/vandal and see 0.2 and 0.25 and think that that means that the phantom is 20% more accurate than the vandal or the vandal is 25% more inaccurate than the phantom. You would be wrong to assume that, here's why. (i think)

The inaccuracy is measured in degrees from the centre of your crosshair. This means that for the vandal, the area of inaccuracy is a circle with a radius of 0.25 degrees. Using ' π r^2' with r being 0.25, we can find the area or inaccuracy, which is 0.1963 square degrees. If we do the same for the vandal(0.2) we get 0.1257. That means that the vandal is 56.25% more inaccurate than the phantom.

i know it may look goofy but this is an accurate representation of how accurate the guns are, green is where the phantom would hit and pink/green is where the vandal would hit. The phantom would hit most of the time where the vandal would miss a lot because it has a 56.25% higher area of shooting.

This means that at longer ranges, if the phantom hit 80/100 bullets, the vandal would miss 56.25% more shots, leading to it only hitting 69 shots. On the flip side, his also means that the phantom is 36% more accurate than the vandal.

You could also calculate this by taking 0.25 and 0.2 and dividing them by each other to get 1.25 and 0.8. You can square those to get 1.5625, which you might recognise from the 56.25% extra inaccuracy mentioned earlier and 0.64, which I can take away from 1 to get 0.36 from the 36% more accuracy mentioned earlier. The reason I didn't just use this calculation as my evidence is because using circle areas to show inaccuracy makes more sense.

I'm confident in my claims but if I am wrong, please correct me because there is a chance there is something I don't know about it or my math is just wrong because I just learned about squared degrees because I wanted to know the answer to this.

edit: just want to make it clear just in case, this is the accuracy just standing with no ads or crouching.

edit but another one: Also, this is a very simple assumption on how the spread works so there could be something I'm missing.

edit but another another one: my post in pretty inaccurate, look to the comments and expand the heavily downvoted one and you will see more accurate explanations.

Is it just me or are you demoted insanely fast this act?

    Posted: 09 Aug 2020 04:32 AM PDT

I just got demoted from a 12-14 loss as 26/19 team mvp and I had only gotten rating decreased once on that elo.

A friend of mine got demoted twice in a row in 9-13 and 10-13 games (after his placements).

For how long it takes to be promoted (which is fine) it feels much more punishing (especially in comparison to last act).

Small nitpick, but could rito separate the map's material quality from the weapons' material quality? That way our skins can look good while still being able to achieve a decent framerate.

    Posted: 09 Aug 2020 11:48 AM PDT

So I noticed a few days ago that setting the material quality from low to high changed the looks of the guns. Significantly. I used to have everything on low, but after seeing the difference between texture quality on low vs high, I always have texture quality on high. Here's a few pictures to show the difference:

Prime classic (low texture quality): https://imgur.com/a/63pqkNg

Prime classic (high texture quality): https://imgur.com/a/qqVRaGs

Oni Phantom (low texture quality): https://imgur.com/a/DnoMauY

Oni Phantom (high texture quality): https://imgur.com/a/tTYiMiO

There's definitely a difference between each picture, but not just with the weapon/weapon skins. The map's look changes, too. And I don't know if it's just me, but I get a solid -20fps when I turn texture quality to high (specifically on bind and split, idk why). I'm assuming this is because of the meshes/textures for the map are changing and not the weapon skins. So it would be nice to be able to have a higher quality weapon skin (gotta get what we paid for haha) while being able to turn down map quality in order to acheive a solid framerate.

Probably one of the last things that riot has to worry about, but it would still be nice to see.

As expensive as the skins in Valorant are, this is the price of not having loot boxes in the game

    Posted: 09 Aug 2020 05:44 AM PDT

I personally do not think that the skins in Valorant, or any similar game are worth nearly the amount that Riot are asking for them. However I still must commend riot for avoiding loot box/gambling based systems to acquire them while most other games opt for this obvious but quite disgusting method. The skins in Valorant are over priced 100%. But to compete in the already established market which we know they must, I'm much happier to see them opting for a method in which the consumer knows exactly what they are spending and exactly what they are receiving.

Riot has adopted a much more respectable marketing strategy here than they are given credit for when compared to other games of the FPS genre.

But I still won't buy them cause wtf are those prices...

Iron and Bronze ELO system should reward personal performance instead of team performance. Otherwise you'll keep punisging people for being teamed up with Iron 1 players, and they will never rank up.

    Posted: 09 Aug 2020 02:15 AM PDT

The fact that "conservative re-placement" at the start of the act can place you back into Iron 1 after 8 weeks of climbing out of that hole and into Bronze 1 is also absurd.

Ranks are a definition of how much a player has learned about the game, and much like at school you start with additions and only years later do you get to differential equations, in this game you should first learn how the game works (Iron 1) then how to shoot and use your abilities (Iron 2 to Bronze 1) and only then (high-bronze, mid-silver) can you learn about playing as a team.

The current system doesn't taking the learning curve into account in anyway, and it's stupid to put teamplayers (Bronze 2s) into a game with Iron 1s that don't even know how to defuse the spike. (Happened a lot more than you'd like to imagine. Also hooray for people that have deactivated chat and can't get your "it's 4! Press 4" message).

Anybody else just have really awful days on Valorant?

    Posted: 09 Aug 2020 10:03 AM PDT

Like, no matter what you do, you just can't catch a break? I've been playing since beta and love how the game plays and everything, but the past two nights it feels like I've been playing against teams of shrouds in unrated. I tried my best not to go full tilt but it was just me getting one tapped round after round and no matter what I did I just couldn't win any crucial gun fights.
