Valorant/Riot are currently experiencing server issues (Error 43)

    Posted: 30 Aug 2020 03:22 AM PDT

    Hey all,

Riot's currently experiencing issues across potentially multiple regions with the servers right now. This can include issues in game, connecting to the game, chat and other connectivity. This is not isolated to Valorant at this time.

Keep your eyes on Riot's server status page for more information.

EDIT 3:25 AM PDT | 12:25 PM CEST: There's reports of other regions having the issues as well.

EDIT 3:44 AM PDT | 12:44 PM CEST: Services seem to be stabilizing for many players, but there is no official word from Riot yet.

EDIT 4:11AM PDT | 1:11PM CEST: Servers have fully stabilized at this time, source of outage unknown. You should be able to get back in your games and have fun, all! Thanks to everyone who's contributed to this thread and keeping me in the loop of server statuses around the world.

    Sage Fan Art

I am really enjoying painting Valorant Agents. My first one was Killjoy, It was pretty decent but I think this sage one is better. This artwork was supposed to feature Reyna leaning behind sage but I did not have the time to paint her.

There is also a Killjoy one in my instagram. If you are interested on how I made this artwork you can check the process here (Artstation link)

Subreddit Meta: Please consider making the rules more pro-scene friendly

    Posted: 30 Aug 2020 07:28 AM PDT

I'm posting as a long-time Overwatch fan who has been witness to how r/Overwatch essentially forced the creation of another subreddit just for competitive content - r/CompetitiveOverwatch - until the esport became big enough for it to matter more to casual viewers, by which point it was too late.

I know the rules state, right at the top, that esports content is allowed. But the rules regarding short duration clips, streams, etc. make it much more cumbersome to post content that would be relevant to anyone interested in pro Valorant play. Those rules are strict for good reason, but even if exceptions will make moderation a little more difficult, it'd definitely improve the overall capacity for people to discuss the pro scene in more depth.

Granted, I think r/ValorantCompetitive is a fine subreddit, but I don't think splintering the community is a good idea. It's a lose-lose situation for everyone involved. And I definitely do think the rules as they currently stand, regardless of intention, disincentivize posting about pro content on the subreddit.

Thanks for the work you do mods, I hope you'll consider my suggestion.

3 Good Skins By Level 25 Was An Excellent Battlepass Decision

    Posted: 30 Aug 2020 09:20 AM PDT

The Ares, Spectre and Vandal skins are really good, IMO. I had no desire, and certainly didn't have the time, to consider grinding to level 50. But getting to 25 is a no brainer and the only reason I got the BP.

    Keep it up Riot!

Not all information is available to your whole team and requires everyone to communicate! This is why you should communicate, how it benefits you and your team as a whole.

    Posted: 30 Aug 2020 08:12 AM PDT

Communication is a vital part of the game, be it voice comms, text chat, and/or pinging. While communication between your party members and yourself might be outstanding via a different means of communication, other teammates do not have that information.

Several posts have mentioned that just your minimap, voice lines, and seeing your teammates' abilities (Left Alt) are enough to go off on. While I partially agree, if you're playing competitive, the goal is to win as a team. Any additional information would be beneficial to your team and would help contribute to success!

Please do mind that while you are making these call-outs to other teammates, that will not guarantee that the outcome you want will happen. At least at that point, you have done your part to help your teammate. You are simply relaying information as accurate as possible, and not telling them what to do, as backseat gaming can have some pretty bad consequences.

(Thank you u/Swerdman55 for this great point!)
It's best to relay RAW data as you hear it. When I mean raw data, I mean data that is not an interpretation. Wrong interpretation call outs could lead to early rotates or overuse of abilities. When making interpretation calls, wait until you have more information, state uncertainty if there is, and don't make assumptions.

    • Raw Data Ex: "I hear footsteps B Main."
    • Interpretation: "It's a B rush!"

Here are some points that would benefit your team that cannot be known from just the minimap and distance audio cues:

Call out if you hear enemy footsteps and where you think they are.

Only teammates near the enemies' footsteps radius can hear the enemies' footsteps. Teammates on-site with you might not hear it, depending on where the enemy/teammate is. Teammates on other sites will most likely not hear it. If you hear multiple enemies coming up one lane, they are likely to be rushing a site.

    • This will definitely influence teammates' decisions to rotate earlier.
    • This will potentially benefit you since backup will be there faster while you're defending.

Call out if you hear enemy abilities.

There is a reason why defaulting works! You bait out utility, and your team has an advantage then. Sometimes enemies will throw abilities without you even defaulting. However, abilities can only be heard from a certain distance.

    • This will definitely influence teammates' positions and decisions to play more aggressively/defensively.
      • Ex: If you saw two KillJoy swarm grenades already thrown and triggered, you do not have to worry about it when defusing or planting.
      • Ex: If you hear a Raze boombot in showers, she's highly likely near that location.
    • This will potentially benefit you by having your teammates not dying in obvious places to you. (Remember, you have information they don't!) Therefore, a higher success of winning.

Call out if your teammate has the spike.

Yes, it clearly shows under your teammates' pictures who have the spike. Still, I have had multiple instances where people walk into it and are unaware of them holding it and/or given it. This is easily the easiest way to prevent unfortunate circumstances.

    • This will allow teammates to give to a person who plays more defensively or play more passively.
    • This will potentially benefit you, from hopefully not needing to retrieve the spike in a bad location. Reducing unnecessary issues is excellent and will help you get a better chance at winning.
    • Please be warned that sometimes when I inform people this, they get a bit peeved. You might want to be careful about how you tell them. "I just wanted to let you know that you have spike, just in case you didn't know."

Call out if you see the enemy spike.

I have had instances where people are aware that enemy spikes are down. However, it does not show on the minimap after your teammate loses visual of it. Your teammate might be fighting with someone or still trying to find potential people near them.

    • This will allow teammates to play more passively around enemies who aren't near the spike. The enemy needs the spike to plant. Suppose your teammate is already at a disadvantage (gun or ability wise). In that case, there's no need for that teammate to put themselves at risk in other locations.
    • This will potentially benefit you from unwanted teammate deaths and/or unnecessary risks.

Call out if and what enemies have certain guns, and positions if possible.

If you are aware of an enemy having an OP mid lane, mention it! You cannot see what guns the enemies have when hitting tab. You can see it in the kill feed, but it might be too late by then. Certain guns do not have tracers, and you cannot hear the sound over a certain distance (Ghost, Phantom).

    • This will allow teammates to position themselves better and make calculated risks versing enemies.
      • Ex: If Jett likes to hold mid w/ an OP, she can quickly dash out, potentially preventing teammates from harming her. They can also wide swing, rather than walk.
      • Ex: If an enemy has a Judge and you know their location, they can easily be camping areas!
    • This will potentially benefit you from teammates unnecessarily dying or playing smarter.

Call out what your group's plan of attack if there is one.

If your group does not have specific roles, which is very likely, you rely on your teammates to help you with this to increase your success!

    • This will benefit you and your teammates because your teammates are more likely to properly play their role! If you plan to rush a site, smokes will hopefully go down, to prevent multiple angles looking onto the group. However, if you're only defaulting, your teammates might think you're trying to go onto the site and die unnecessarily, or use abilities not needed.

Call out how much damage you did to enemies.

    • This will benefit your teammates to figure out if they can take those fights. If there's no Sage, non-healing characters will still have that health (or less).
    • This will potentially benefit you by them taking more calculated risks.

Your random teammates will be very grateful and will be in a better mood, potentially leading them to playing better.

Before anyone asks, yes, I am the person on my team who likes to remind my teammates, if they aren't relaying this information, that they more likely to make silly mistakes. I still actively relay information to random teammates to help them as much as possible, even toxic teammates.

If you see any information that is incorrect, please bring it to my attention, so I can edit it. :) My sole purpose is to correctly relay this information to people in order to help promote communicate in our community as a whole.

Just got to say how much I love this game.

    Posted: 30 Aug 2020 10:44 AM PDT

I never cared much for tactical shooters, but this one stood out. Abilities that each person had that would contribute to strategies. I'm not a strategy sort of guy, but boy oh boy seeing them work is just pure bliss Each kill feels so good and satisfying. Ahhhhhh

This game is so good that I even enjoy it on my laptop that can barely run it haha. I hope you all feel the same, I can't wait to experience playing this on an actual PC setup <3

Can a gun model block phoenix flash?

Can a gun model block phoenix flash?

I was watching a random compilation video, when phoenix throws a flash at the player, but he was not blinded... so, either the flash was buggy or the tip of the operator blocked the flash?

Just out of curiosity, can guns block flashes or was it something else?

Make observer/spectator to be able to follow throwable abilities

    Posted: 30 Aug 2020 01:35 AM PDT

Like in cs when someone throws a grenade and by holding ALT the camera follows said grenade to show where it lands. I miss that when i see a sick sova arrow or brim molly lineup. There was a tournament(dont remember which maybe pitsburgh knights) where the observer took the effort to follow the arrows but he had to go to free fly mode and follow the arrow manually props to him for that but it would be sick if we had an easier option to do that

    Anyone else having microstutters?

    Posted: 30 Aug 2020 01:07 PM PDT

    Hey!

Basically my game stutters a lot real bad whenever I play. This happens frequently but not all the time. By this I mean that whenever I launch Valorant, I either stutter or don't, with the stutters lasting a few rounds before stopping. I also experience long loading times, sometimes loading into the agent select with 10 seconds left or into the pistol round which has already stared. Does anyone else experience this and/or have a fix?

I'm assuming it's because I still have a HDD, but it shouldn't be THIS bad?

How to stop shooting before aiming?

    Posted: 30 Aug 2020 11:10 AM PDT

Been doing this thing when an Enemy pops out and before I flick I just start shooting and not aiming first. This has made me loose an infintely amount of duels. It's a bad habit I want to fix. This could be any where I'm holding an angle or I'm rushing and someone pops out in the corner of my eye.

I was wondering if any of you have this problem and know a good exercise/warm up to fix this.
