4v5 comp matches should allow a one-sided draw vote on first overtime

    Posted: 22 Nov 2020 08:36 AM PST

It's not fair to have competitive 4v5 matches where the team with the afk player manages to bring it to a 12-12 score just for them to be denied a draw and crushed in overtime. Right now you still need 6 votes to draw a 4v5 game but the afk player automatically votes draw, so it's 5(+1). This only allows the 5 player team to vote for it one-sidedly and puts the leaver team into an extra disadvantage. In my opinion if all remaining 4 players unanimously vote to draw, the game should also end just there. It would only be fair if they really manage to get 12 rounds.

Edit: I don't know if ONLY the 4 player team should be given a one-sided draw option or both teams, but right now it's just the full team and that's definitely wrong.

I am built for iron 1

    Posted: 21 Nov 2020 06:14 PM PST

Many people just want to advance up the rankings and have a cool title to show off to their friends, but many people just dont understand that iron 1 is a great rank. I was born for iron 1. I am nowhere near good enough to get to iron 2, and that's fine by me. Iron 1 is where it's at! Most of the people I talk to in iron 1 are chill dudes who just want to have fun with the game. If I practiced really hard, could I get to iron 2? No. I may be bad at the game, but I'm smart enough to know that Iron 1 is the best rank of them all. Join me my fellow iron 1's in proving our dominance to those in the sweat ranks

Serious question: Should my eyes focus on the crosshair or at the targets? (eg. their heads)

    Posted: 22 Nov 2020 11:53 AM PST

Newbie in Valorant who trying to improve but I used to play quite a lot FPS before, this question just popped up in my mind lately. I personally asked TenZ on his stream via donation and he answered he's more of a crosshair-focus type meanwhile I came across majority of the people saying your eyes should focus on the targets instead. I experimented myself and found that it's actually quite impossible to just 'fully' focus on just one another, kindly give me some advices on this matter especially if you're very experienced/pro in FPS games

PSA: streamers (and actually everyone using Discord/TS) should use a Push-To-Mute button. Here why and how to set it up

    Posted: 22 Nov 2020 02:42 AM PST

    THE PROBLEM:

This is a problem that anyone that uses discord and TS will probably find often.

I was watcing a video on food's twitch and they were 4 stacking. All talking trough team speak. The solo q that joined them for the match was of course only in valorant voice, so whenever they needed to talk to him they had to push-to-talk in valorant. The problem is that in that moment they had two voice channel open with terrible echo effect.

    THE SOLUTION:

Discord (but TS too) have the option to set a Push-To-Mute button. If you set the same button you use to Push-To-Talk in Valorant you activate voice in valorant and deactivate voice in Discord with the same button. This helps everyone ears.

    To do that in Discord:

Settings > Keybind > add keybind. And select Push-To-Mute. The button you want to use is the same you have in valorant for Push-To-Talk (probably T)
Now everytime you push T you will hear a sound that alert you the mic is muted/unmuted in Discord. It's terrible. So go to Notification and disable PTT Activate and PTT Deactivate.

For TeamSpeak I know it can be done but you will have to look for it in internet^^.

Hope this is useful for everyone.

You can control toxicity to a certain extent.

    Posted: 22 Nov 2020 02:16 AM PST

Hello, me llamo Elevayshun. I am currently a player hovering around Gold 3 - Platinum 1. I started playing VALORANT during this act, with around 60 hours of CS:GO experience. I started off as a Silver 2 player, and solo-queued to Platinum 1. Compared to a lot of other people, I think that is a very significant progress for one act. The problem for me, especially in Silver ELO was not the so called "Bad players holding me back", but the toxicity. There were the infamous insta-lock Reynas that would quit after losing pistol rounds, and the people who would yell at you for bot fragging and "baiting" them even though you died before them, on the OTHER SIDE OF THE MAP. Anyways, what I'm saying is that toxicity is the factor that you should be focusing on. Because yes, maybe bad teammates or players having a bad day are holding you back, but there's really nothing you can do about that. However, you can actually manage toxicity without muting people. I was actually able to do this while solo-queueing, and it has helped me a lot. Here are two things I did to avoid toxicity, or even manage it.

1: Blame yourself. Yes, this sounds really stupid at first, but the thing is toxic people will always shit on people. Blaming yourself presents you as an easier target, so the toxic guy will target you, instead of your teammate. So every time your team loses a round, say "My bad" and then list off a random reason why it was your bad. It doesn't matter if it wasn't actually your fault, just saying something like "My bad, I should have watched flank" or "My bad I should have gone in first", or "My bad I shouldn't have peeked that" will save your teammates from getting flamed. Yes, you will get flamed but as long as you keep in mind that it wasn't actually your fault, you won't get as affected. So through publicly blaming yourself you are protecting your teammate's mental health, while not putting yours at too much risk. Happier teammates play better than angry, pissed off ones.

2: Always commend your teammates. This is a very obvious one that many people do, which is a very encouraging thing to see. It can be something as simple as saying "Nice try" if one of your teammates fail a clutch. Even if it was like the world's shittiest attempt at a clutch just say stuff to keep your teammate's morale up.

    I hope these tips help.

TL;DR: Keep everyone happy, prevent your teammates from being flamed by baiting yourself.

My friends always want to play ranked together but they aren’t very good. What should I do?

    Posted: 22 Nov 2020 08:18 AM PST

Please read first. I really want to climb in this game, but my friends who are not very good always want to play ranked. Should I just accept that my rank will be effected negatively and just have fun with them, or do I play solo? If I'm accepting that I will never climb, then it kind of takes out the "chase" of climbing ranks which makes me not really want to play. I also don't want to just abandon my friends though.

New to FPS. How do I get better at Valorant?

    Posted: 22 Nov 2020 12:06 PM PST

I really want to get into FPS, but have never really played any games like it before. Valorant is one of my first FPS games I have ever played and it is honestly really fun. But I'm not very good at it, and often someone else on my team has to carry. How do I get better? Do you guys recommend any guides, or any games that will help me learn to get better at the game? I'm currently using Aim Lab from Steam to get better. I'm wondering what did you guys use? How do I get smarter on using my agents too? (I typically main Cypher)

Is there an exhaustive list of all csgo players switching to Valorant ?

    Posted: 22 Nov 2020 05:42 AM PST

I find this article which is pretty nice to list csgo players who switch to Valorant. https://win.gg/news/5657/former-csgo-pros-are-winning-most-valorant-tournaments

Some of them were still pretty good in the actual top teams. Some others were bright stars who did some mistakes years ago. Some others were pretty off the circuit since months or years or just streamers playing on FaceIt but without any former team.

I just find out that 2 emblematic old french IGL do try to play this game although (Happy and Ex6TenZ) during First Strike Europe.

I would love to see a list of all csgo players who are switching to Valorant. People who played in well known tournaments since 2015 in csgo (dreamhack, esl, majors, etc). When the pro scene began to rise.

    What I've Learned From Deathmatch.

    Posted: 22 Nov 2020 02:04 PM PST

Deathmatch is, in my opinion, the best way to currently improve gunplay in Valorant. I have learned a lot with this gamemode and I want to share the best ways to improve with it, and what you gotta pay attention to, when practcing in it.

From personal experience, I have more than tripled my headshot% in games after exclusively playing deathmatch for two weeks. Climbing ranks is way easier for me, as I also don't fail in as many easy gunfights as I used to.

Please, correct me in the comments in I said anything wrong in this guide

The key takeaways from deathmatch for me were:

    1: Wide / Jiggle Peeking:

When an enemy is holding an angle, or both players expose themselves at the same time, doing a wide swing yourself is a better strategy than performing a narrow / tight peek (trying to expose as little of the body as possible), as it will force your enemy to reposition their crosshair to hit a moving target, and that is a hard thing to do in this game.

When doing a narrow peek, there are two problems:

    a) the crosshair of your enemy, as said above, is most likely placed at the edge of the wall you are peeking from, which gives them an easy shot;

    b) in some parts of the maps, if the enemy decides to swing at you, in case you miss your shots against them, you are gonna be the one holding a very akward angle, so you are besically dead. (This is true only for gunfights happening in 45º or less angles. The best example for this sort of angle where you have to fully commit to a gunfight instead of narrow-peeking is defender's spawn on Bind. When it comes to corridors and angles like Bind B Short see the important note below)

In thoery, narrow peeks would be more useful, as you are exposing only part of your body and you can shoot as soon as you see the target. But the fact that the player holding an angle probably has their crosshair placed in a position where they expect a narrow peek from, you are probably dead by the time you see them. Narrow peeks at close range can be useful only if you pre-fire the said angle or corner that the enemy is located at, but this depends on information to work consistently.

On the other hand, jiggle peeking has three very good uses:

    a) getting info before fully commiting to a fight / wide swinging;

    b) baiting shots, especially from AWPs

    c) taking long range fights, where you briefly expose yourself, shoot two or three bullets, and quickly return back to cover

Important note: wide swinging may not work when the enemy can quickly hide from your peek before you even shoot and they can also repeek you afterwards when you are completely exposed from that failed swing. Because of that, be careful when swinging a door or corridor, like the one from A link on Haven or the corridor on B short on Bind.

2: Holding Angles / Hiding in Corners:

When holding angles or hiding in corners, you have to be ready for the enemy to both wide swing you or narrow peek you. I'd recomend placing your crosshair close to the edge that the enemy would come from and be ready and readjust it in case they end up wide swinging you. Holding angles involves some actual aiming and you cannot fully rely on your crosshair placement. This is true even for very good players. Placing your crosshair at a tight-ish angle for a narrow peek and aiming in case you are swung by the enemy is better than doing the opposite thing because the enemy kills you faster in a narrow peek (thus your crosshair placement will be correct a higher % of the times, since you don't know how far the enemy will swing before shooting you)

Also, two other important things to note:

    a) when hiding in corners, staying on it in the deepest spot possible will help you, because it gives you the best angle possible over the enemy.

    b) when holding an angle, beeing as tight to the wall as possible will make your life easier, because, if an enemy swings you, they're gonna have to hit a hard shot and, if you hide after they swing you, they are gonna have no cover to go back to, meaning that, if you swing them back, your advantage on that fight will be massive.

    3: Angle Isolation

Don't expose yourself to more angles than you need to. It will reduce the ammount of the times you are shot from your back.

    4: Your HP

The HP affects the way you engage in fights. Don't be agrresive while you are at low hp, as swinging becomes way less effective. In real games, playing around utility, catching your enemy off guard, baiting for a teammate or working on getting as much info as possible are better ways to help when you are in a fragile state.

    5: Improving crosshair placement

Crosshair placement, in this game, is something that heavily depends on focus and attention. What helped me to improve my crosshair placement in general were these simple two habits:

    a) imagine where the enemy's head is most likely going to be at all times before you open a new angle, or while holding an angle. You are not going to be correct 100% of the times, but neither the pros are.

    b) Your eyes have to be focusing on your crosshair. Make an effort to always remember that. Aim is composed of had-eye coordination. Focusing on your crosshair will help you with microadjustments, flicks, tracking and overall crosshair placement

    6: Pre Aiming

tl;dr pre aim common angles, trace corners elsewhere

When peeking/swinging a common angle, always pre-aim it and place your crosshair so that, if there is an enemy there you just gotta stop and dink their head. No mouse movement required. When walking on an area of the map where that isn't the case, you will be better off tracing corners. If you pre-aimed every possible angle in the game, the time would run out before you even got to a bombsite.

7: Flicking / Aim Traning with AimLab

There are some situations where you will need to rely on raw mechanical skill to win. This is something that you will learn better using AimLab / Kovaak than deathmatch.
