In no world should 1 single 0-13 loss be worth the equivalent of 3-5 close victories in weighting.

    Posted: 21 Nov 2020 12:28 PM PST

I know the high rankeds of the community will say the smurfing problem isn't that big of a deal and us low ranks blame every single 20+ kill on smurfing, which absolutely isn't true but it's beside the point.

If I encounter a smurf, a csgo refugee, someone who is just ON FIRE THAT DAY, whatever it may be and my team gets absolutely obliterated, why is it okay for days on days of 60-70% winrate close fought games to be erased in a matter of 1-2 games?

If I'm playing League of Legends and my team gets annihilated 0-35 scoreboard and we forfeit as soon as we can at 15 minutes, I don't lose 170 LP after the game. I lose the same amount as any other loss.

It feels terrible to spend days literally days grinding 1 or 2 arrows at a time to finally rank up and have two games knock me down two ranks because there was a Reyna w keying and one tapping everyone both games. It's entirely out my control and feels like I have to spend another week just to have it happen again. I'm trying to improve, trying to learn, and this is really demoralizing.

What's the deal with these spike grabbing players in low elo.

    Posted: 21 Nov 2020 10:00 AM PST

So i have been into many matches soo far where a player just starts running towards the spike every single attacking round as soon as we all spawn and now either he will just play far away from rest of the team and dying along with dropping the spike at most awkward spot possible.. or he just won't plant at all. This is very frustrating to watch or play and it ruins the attacking half.

After seeing this i can understand why in other games like csgo and rainbow six siege the bomb/diffuser is given to a randomly selected person instead of putting it in front of spawned players like a soccer ball.

And ofc these players aren't gonna give u the spike just like that on asking them nicely. And they actually very good at grabbing it before any of the rest so its very hard to beat them at their game.

And it is also actually a very good way to troll as well, i also had this match of 2 trollers.. it was the Bind map.. and this phoenix and raze grabs the spike super f fast and went straight to the tp room.. and starts playing Catch with it and the rest of us just hearing the sound of "spike dropped"..."spike picked".

I just wanna say that plz don't grab the spike like this every single round without even looking or asking once to ur team members unless u r trolling.

How I Climbed from Iron to Diamond. Real Things I Did.

    Posted: 21 Nov 2020 01:02 PM PST

Here is the video link: https://youtu.be/Dijv2rOcUA8

I've seen many guides from proguides and gameleap and they've started recycling content. I've seen "THE ONLY AIM GUIDE YOU NEED" for the thousandth time. So I made a video to give some actual tips that have proven to work for me. This is a text version and I'll go rank by rank.

    BRONZE AND IRON

I started in iron during the beta and I know how it feels to be in low elo. I know the struggle. This is where lots of people who have no fps experience like I did when I started will place. Iron is a fiesta. People have no idea what they're doing. They run and shoot, use only shotguns, and there are no stats except rushing a site. These are the things I did in iron so don't be ashamed if you do any of these things. The way I got out of iron was by playing the game. Playing the game will get you out of iron very quickly. You just need to learn the game and its mechanics. This could mean playing ranked, unrated, or spike rush. Your goal here is to get the hours in so you at least have an idea of what you're doing. Many people just play for fun in iron, they might play one game every now or then so they don't have that experience in the game. So what I did was just play the game and that got me out of iron really fast.

    SILVER

Moving on to silver. Congrats you have passed the two lowest ranks and now have a basic sense of the game. As a silver, you know what you are doing. You will have an understanding of the fundamentals of the game. In silver, teams are a bit more coordinated but strategies are still not present as people don't have the aim to actually execute those strategies. So what do we do from here? How do we climb to gold? Because in gold, there are some insane aimers who should be a bit higher in rank but decide to play with their brain off. In silver, you want to start being a bit more focused on your aim. Simply put, the aim will get you quickly to gold. In order to start improving your aim, you will need to limit what agents you play. This is because if you play too many agents, you will be too busy learning the agent during the game, instead of focusing on your aim.I played phoenix only to climb out of silver After you have chosen an agent you want to play, start playing deathmatch and going to the practice range before games. This will help you build muscle memory and make sure your hands are warm and ready to play valorant. Another thing I recommend in silver is to start to play with a friend. Duo queueing in my opinion is the best way to climb other than having a committed 5 stack. Starting to duo queue will get you used to communicating and make you familiar with what I think is the best way to climb in general.

    GOLD

This rank has many different kinds of people. People who all aim no brain. People who were lucky in their games and don't deserve gold. There are washed up diamonds and recently demoted plats. So you can, there is a lot o f skill diversity here. So what should you do? The most important thing to do is start to improve your game sense. Yes, still work on improving your aim but game sense will get you out. This means working on utility usage, positioning, and general map awareness. Players in gold are very egoistic. They all think they deserve a higher rank and go do stupid solo plays. These are the "i drop 20 frags every game and not rank up" players. Instead, you need to out-think them instead of out aiming these players. This means being aware of players who do these things and make a plan to kill them. Let's start with utility usage. You need to be able to effectively use your utility so you don't use it all at once and not have any utility to push a site or stop a push. A common bad habit I see is sage players throwing a slow orb after their wall is being broken. Don't do this unless you know there is pushing up. A lot of times people just break the wall and leave. This can also apply to other agents so think before you use a piece of utility. When you die, you need to think about your positioning. Were you in a one and done position? Meaning a position with no escape route. Were you peeking by yourself or into an oper? Did you use this position before and enemies are pre-firing you? These are some questions you need to think about to improve your positioning. Lastly, for gold players, the little thing in the top left, the minimap, yeah it's pretty important to look at. The minimap will give you insane amounts of info. Sometimes you might not be able to see an enemy, but you will be able to see the question mark pop up on your screen. You can also see enemy utility such as Sova recon darts and make decisions with your team based on that. The minimap is underutilized in gold. When I was in gold. I was also egoistic and thinking I should be plat and got quickly frustrated. Once I thought about these questions when I died, instead of blaming something or someone, then I started improving. So to the golds, you need to start thinking about your actions and improving your game sense.

    PLATINUM

Our next rank will be platinum. You are now on the higher end of the spectrum. People start taking the game more seriously when they hit plat. Now, when I hit plat I was very happy. So happy I stopped focusing. I dropped gold multiple times and then hitting plat multiple times. Now, what I did for climbing out of plat was 2 things actually. One, having an aim training routine and watching vods. I decided that if I wanted to improve, then I should start practicing outside of the game. So I did 30 mins of aim training in aimlabs before I went to sleep every day. This helps build muscle memory as doing things before you sleep help you learn those things faster. If you guys want, I can give you my routine just let me know in the comments. For reviewing my vods, this was important. Instead of asking a question after I died, I would be able to better understand what mistakes I made and needed to improve. Another thing to remember is not to look at the deaths only. It's also important to see what you did well so you can continue that in your other games. I recommend vod reviewing by yourself, with a higher elo friend

If you reached the end, thank you for reading. This is the first guide and youtube video I've made. I hope this will help you climb and give you tips that have proven to work.

Battlepass vs Van 6 - Who Wins?

    Posted: 21 Nov 2020 08:23 AM PST

Heya guys! Been loving valorant ever since the beta and play it pretty frequently, enough that I convinced myself to spend money on the battlepass this season.

Then came Van 6. I'm sure most of you are aware of this problem and I'm not here to report the problem or ask for a fix, as I already did in the bug megathread. But Van 6 has become such a problem that I am unable to play the game. My game crashes at least once or twice a game and gives me that code. This I am spending ~2-4 rounds missing from a game any time I play. This puts my team at a massive disadvantage already.

And it's frustrating. I can't play a decent portion of the matches so I have decided to wait until it's reconciled by Riot. No biggie, I have other games. But I did buy the battlepass and now I'm wondering what happens if Riot can't fix this issue soon enough for me to get back on the grind to finish it.

My pc isn't exactly built for gaming but I, and many others (including professionals), never had this issue for the last major patch. It just kinda sucks.

Just some thoughts if you are considering buying the battlepass but also have the Van 6 virus.

How do you counter Odin on defense as a Jett main?

    Posted: 21 Nov 2020 10:10 AM PST

I just had a really terrible match where me and our team got absolutely stomped on defense when we were leading 10-2. 3-4 of them used Odin's and none of us had any answers. Can anyone give any general/Jett specific tips that can help me out? It will be greatly appreciated!

    Repulsion of CS standard

    Posted: 21 Nov 2020 10:13 AM PST

I myself am not a CSGO player. I've got less than 40 hours on the game. I did play lots of 1.6 as a kid (mostly in PC bangs with 9 buddies, I don't really count that).

Yet, whenever I see "This is not CSGO" argument in Valorant discussions (and I see it all the time), I find myself on the opposite side of the argument. Latest being C9 TenZ yesterday, talking about good old CoD run and gun mechanics, how it is way too good and works much better than it should, and showcasing it with crushing DM matches with both Phantom and Vandal while constantly moving, not stopping for a single second. The only argument against it was "This is not CSGO".

And it goes back to every single legitimate and justified complaint to game mechanics, balance and design - Operator strength, poor map design, extreme amount of damage in certain agent's kit, slow movement, dull and gravely post plants, Lack of flash bangs and their infirmity (not anymore lol), snowball effect on teams economy, walking and shooting, running and shooting etc.

Every single time, there is "This is not CSGO" argument. CS is father of the genre. Original 5v5 tactical FPS, with bomb plant - detonate/defuse objective, that's been worked on and carefully polished and balanced for 20 years, and made into top 3 competitive / eSports games of all time, along with another game made by Riot Games, that shares a lot of developers and game developing policies with Valorant (competitive integrity being one of them, and most important in this case). Why would anyone not want to hold this game to a CSGO standard?

Valorant will always be an amazing game to queue up with 4 buddies, have fun and shoot it out. That will not and can not change with mechanics, balance and design improvements. Besides, those people are not the ones that go to reddit or internet in general to discuss these kind of things.

tl;dr So who are these people in the community that want this game to strafe away from CSGO as much as possible, and why is there so much hostility towards it?

First Strike observers suck, and I think I know why.

    Posted: 21 Nov 2020 10:53 AM PST

I remember watching a video about the production behind CSGO majors. The observer setup was absolutely ridiculous, where there's at least 3 or 4 different perspectives, and they had one pivotal element. They had a delay on one of their machines, so that when kills go down the observer knows exactly where to be at the right time. It's impossible to put an actual delay on valorant, so we wind up missing half the kills every match, which I think is absolutely ridiculous.

Edit: Here's ESEA sapphiRe explaining how it works https://youtu.be/0D8BTN4xg5M?t=171 Edit 2: I do agree that it's not feasible to expect the observers to have the means to have that kind of setup, but given there's only two games streamed at any given time it's puzzling as to why riot didn't supply it.

Will the gift system appear in Valorant

    Posted: 21 Nov 2020 02:56 AM PST

Sometimes, you want to make a gift to a friend on his birthday or new year. And you want to give skin\ radialpoint \valorantpoint.

Riots, will there be such a possibility? As for me this function would be very useful for the entire community and for you a friend a gift in the form of a skin or Radiantpointov

Killjoy ended up being fine, Icebox will be too.

    Posted: 20 Nov 2020 09:33 PM PST

Remember when everyone was up in arms about killjoy and her turret. Turns out she's fine and no one cares now. I'm wondering if the same will happen with icebox. Do you guys think over time people will finally just get used to icebox and know all the different tricks that it's not that difficult to play anymore and people stop complaining? Because killjoy was the end of the world, and then nothing happened, she was fine.

What exactly am I supposed to do on offense?

    Posted: 21 Nov 2020 12:01 PM PST

I've been playing Valorant for a couple months, I'm Iron 2, and I still feel like I have no idea what I'm supposed to do positionally on offense pre taking the site. Obviously once I'm on the site I coordinate with my teammates where to guard, but I'm still not sure what I'm supposed to do before taking the site.

    Reyna Main btw

    Any help is appreciated, Thanks

    Decent Viper buffs

    Posted: 21 Nov 2020 11:30 AM PST

Hey. I have been playing Viper since launch and have always looked forward to any improvements to this hero. Despite all the complaints about this agent, I always liked her, but I offered several buffs for her that we can discuss.

    1. Her Toxic Sreen ability can help the enemy figure out where Viper is if she throws her and the opponent sees it. My suggestion is that the enemy cannot see where the wall is until the Viper activates it. This can be done like this: Viper launches Toxic Screen and the capsules of this wall will hide underground and crawl out from under it when Viper activates the wall.
    2. Toxic Sreen and Poison Cloud after the death of Viper should remain in effect for the same time as Viper's Poison remained before death. For example, these abilities were activated, Viper could work for 12 seconds, but she died, they should be active this time. After all, Omen and Brimstone smokes work if they die.
    3. Omen and Brimstone can pinpoint where their smoke will go. Viper does not have this ability and the player cannot know exactly where the smoke will fall if he did not know it before, so I suggest that Viper can see on the minimap where her smoke will fall. This will help ranked players to use this ability more often and more beneficially.
    4. Another good buff - Viper was able to adjust the Toxic Sreen length. This will help in cases where the player does not want to use the full length of the wall.

A couple more buffs that a lot of players support. They are already more powerful than the rest.

    1. The Viper can take the Toxic Sreen and use it elsewhere.

    2. The enemy slows down slightly in the Viper smoke.

I hope you enjoy these buffs! You can also suggest your ideas in the comments

    What is baiting?

    Posted: 21 Nov 2020 11:21 AM PST

Hello guys, i was playing a game on bind and the brim on my team accused me of baiting him. I was playing cypher on defense and holding my angles and he would die first by playing aggressively. He got very toxic and i had to mute him. This was in silver elo. Its true that i would get a few kills after he died by holding the angle they were pushing from. Did i do anything wrong? I still dont understand why is that baiting.

    Is gold really that toxic?

    Posted: 21 Nov 2020 02:47 PM PST

I'm a silver player and I just hit silver 3 so I got put into a lobby with 8 golds and one other silver 3 and holy shit it was toxic. On the first round our raze said she was going to throw, a few rounds after that the jett on the other team started calling us bad and then a few rounds after that our raze and their jett just continuously argued calling my team trash and calling each other trash. Is gold really this toxic or did I just get unlucky?
