    Give info not instructions

    Posted: 23 Nov 2020 05:34 AM PST

When you are dead and watching what your team are doing, you are usually not as tense as the people playing which means you will often notice things which they miss. You also have the advantage of being able to jump between the living team members to get a better perspective on what is happening with the enemy team. This is fantastic for giving information on where the enemy are, what weapons they are using, where the spike is, etc. and utilising this information can often mean the difference between victory and defeat. So please share the info, tell your team how many are coming and where from, ping the map, definitely ping enemies and the spike if you can see them.

Now, while you are sharing info it is very tempting to also tell your team mate what you think they should be doing. Please don't. If someone has made a bad play, feel free to give them advice on what they should have done, but do it at the start of the next round. While the round is still going, give them the info and let them use it how they want.

"But you said I have the better perspective so I know what they should be doing" you might say.

Well that may be true, but if you give them the information then they have the same perspective. Telling your team mate what to do is distracting and very often isn't playing to the player's strengths. You also can't give detailed instructions so it's better to let them work out their own plan.

So give information, don't give instructions.

And for the love of god, if someone is trying to clutch do not speak at all unless you absolutely have to. They need concentrate and they need to hear every single sound, so anything you say might get them killed instead of helping.

    Gun Game?

    Posted: 22 Nov 2020 07:52 PM PST

I think Valorant could add a gun game mode that would be super fun. Other shooters have it and its an a great way to play the game without playing a FFA deathmatch or spike rush.

For anyone that doesn't know what gun game is, you start with a gun, probably a pistol, and get a kill, and are then upgraded to the next gun. The order can be random(though same order for everyone) or ascending in power. Seems like a no brainer for this game. Thoughts?

I'm really happy with how these came out, but that orange prime is looking kinda ugly. That's probably because the whole set of that texture is kinda off looking, but hey, at least it came out looking like the rest. I hope you all enjoyed this series as much as I did making them!

How to Deal With Inconsistency and Perform Better (So You Can Rank Up Faster)

    Posted: 23 Nov 2020 04:57 AM PST

Video Link if you're lazy to read

The most common question I see on this subreddit is how to be more consistent. Consistency is key to climbing the ranks, and everyone knows this. You can't be playing like a diamond on one day and gold on another. However, the answer isn't as simple as telling people to go to practice more or anything like that. In this post, I'm going to teach you how to deal with inconsistency in Valorant.

    The Basics

First, we need to understand that consistency is relative. You're not always going to have the same performance because the variables in each game are not constant.

You're not going to be playing against the same set of agents, the same map, or the same skill level of players each time. The goal is to minimize inconsistency to a point where your worst performance will still be pretty good.

That said, consistency can depend on how much the enemy team capitalizes on your mistakes. In one game, you could be playing against a team that doesn't use utility to counter OPs which results in you getting a bunch of kills. But in the next game, the enemy team is coordinated and executes attacks properly, making it hard for you to score kills.

Even your teammates are factors to inconsistency. Each player has a different view on how to play the game so if you're playing Solo Queue, this can be a problem when you don't see eye to eye with your teammates.

These are factors that are out of your control. You can't dictate what type of team you'll be playing against, so let's focus on the things you have full control of.

    1. The Importance of Fundamentals

In every match, no matter what agent you're playing, the base mechanics and concepts of Valorant will always be relevant. This means that crosshair placement, peeking, positioning, game sense, and economy usage, are critical because they're concepts that play out in every round.

Learning these concepts, and applying them properly will definitely make you a more consistent and complete player. If you have great fundamentals, then enemies will have a harder time exploiting holes in your gameplay.

For example, knowing when to full-buy and when to save is something that you can always be consistent in, and if you economize properly, it'll increase your chances of winning the match.

Your aim might not always be consistent. On some days you have insane aim and on some days, you don't. Crosshair placement goes a long way because it isn't as reliant on raw aim, and if you have good crosshair placement, duels essentially become point-and-click scenarios.

Also, you should always be warming up before playing your first competitive match. It's important that you do so to reduce the chances of missed shots because of cold hands.

    2. Having an Adaptable Playstyle

Being adaptable and versatile is essential to being consistent. This might come as a shock to you but it's the truth. However, this isn't possible if you're not a complete player so knowing the concepts in the first point is a prerequisite to having a versatile playstyle. You can't adapt to something if you don't have the fundamentals or knowledge to do so.

If you have a static playstyle, which means that you're playing the same way every game, you're going to run into players that don't do well against you and players who know exactly how to counter you.

This is where you need to be flexible in terms of playstyle.

One of the worst things you can do is play on autopilot, which means that I'm not actively thinking about what I'm doing and I'm just making decisions w/o considering the effects. While this can work, autopilot becomes a main source of frustration when it works in one game and then doesn't work in another, hence the inconsistency.

For example, playing aggressively on defense is something you like doing. It's gotten good results in the past, so you play this way every game. Some teams won't expect you to push and will get caught off guard while others will be prepared for it. The same goes for teammates - some will peek off your entry, others will bait you.

In order to solve this, you need to be mindful of your choices and make decisions based on how your team and the enemy team are playing, and not what's worked for you in past games. You can't expect players to behave in a certain way, although there are patterns - like running away from a Raze Ultimate.

Sometimes, it might be hard to see the flaws in your own gameplay. I suggest reviewing your matches so your bad habits become easier to identify and fix. Either way, changing up your playstyle to fit the current scenario is a great way to improve consistency.

    3. Strong Mental State

Another factor you can control with regards to consistency is your mental state. If you're tilted, you won't be able to play properly. Your judgment and decision-making will deteriorate and you're probably not going to have fun playing the game too — this is important because you'll play better if you're not as stressed.

I've found that my best games (in terms of my own performance) are when my teammates are cracking jokes in between rounds or just having a good time. But great teammates are hard to come by, so you need to learn how to deal with toxicity and avoid tilt.

There was a recent Reddit post by u/SMcArthur about the "1 strike" rule that I agree with a lot. Basically, at the first hint of toxicity or negativity, you mute the player. Even if you won't have voice comms from that player anymore, muting him won't affect your chances of winning too much as you won't have to deal with the toxicity the entire game. Getting tilted is far worse than losing comms from one player.

While this is a great method, if you're already tilted, this doesn't apply. You also need to be able to reset your mental state. Everyone has different ways of doing it, but personally, I take a 5-minute break and then hop into a deathmatch to distance myself from tilting or toxic experiences.

    4. Compatible Teammates (optional, but very helpful)

The best teammates aren't the ones with the highest skill level. If you're around the same rank, chances are they're also stuck there for a reason. Finding teammates who complement your playstyle or understand how you play will make things a lot easier as you don't have to deal with strangers and constantly adjust.

Now, there's a lot to learn from randoms too, but having a dedicated stack, or even 1 or 2 players that you can trust removes another coin-toss element of Solo Q. This one's optional because I understand that finding compatible teammates is hard, but I just wanted to put this out there because it's helped me become more consistent.

    Final Thoughts

I just want to quickly mention that slumps are real. Everyone goes through them, even pro players. Sometimes, there isn't much you can do to get out of a slump. Everyone has their own methods of dealing with it, so it's best to find what works for you, and please try not to be too mean to someone who's slumping.

Either way, I hope this has been helpful. In multiplayer games like Valorant, there's bound to be some level of inconsistency in your play. The best we can do is try to minimize it so that you can perform at peak performance often.

Anyway, that's it for this post. If you have any further questions, feel free to reach out to me on discord (Eggwick #7855) or check out a new server I've launched to help players improve: https://discord.gg/H2VjZqyEJe

    Iron 2 to Immortal 3

    Posted: 23 Nov 2020 08:03 AM PST

    Hey guys!

Just wanted to make a post of tips and learnings I've gained from placing iron 2 in beta and climbing to immortal 3 by act 3.

Valorant can be stressful and sweaty sometimes but if you learn to detach yourself just a tad from the game, you'll save yourself a few popped blood vessels. BREATHE!

I never used aim labs or any aim trainer really. The practice range is pretty underrated -- my biggest advice is to use the eliminate 50 bots (with strafe and armor on) to practice both your spray and flicks. Keep trying to beat your prior time. The other drill that really helped is using hard bots (no armor) and flicking with either ghost or sheriff.. this will really warm up your aim and brain before jumping in a match (especially for pistol round).

Don't blame your teammates for every little thing that goes wrong, understand that you literally can control most of the interactions you have during a given round. When you die, figure out what you could've done better, and sometimes it's just as simple as you losing an aim duel so don't freak out too much.

Proper utility usage is SO important. Pick a few agents to practice and be good with. For me, that was sova, kj/cypher, omen, and viper on occasion ;). It's okay to sweat a little and practice lineups in customs, because more times than not I've won games because of that practice.

Mix up your playstyle to see what works for you. Try playing fast, and going for unexpected angles and trades AND also try playing for picks, defaulting, and trying to get map info. Judge the pace of the game and keep the enemy team on their toes. Both playstyles are important and should be used depending on your team's goals in a given round, but get comfortable doing either!

You're likely at the rank you deserve to be at. Don't be scared of losing it and shift your mindset to just play to improve.

Lastly, be confident and don't give up. This is still something I am working on, but even if you're at the bottom of the leaderboard or if your team is getting 10-0'd, breathe. You got this g, don't get inside your own head. Just mix up your playstyle if it hasn't been working and start clicking heads :)

    TLDR:

    I'm boosted (jkjk)

Keep climbing fam, if I can do it you can too I promise. Come through on twitch for some live action high quality top notch gamer moments @ ttv hotdadnokids :)

Created a 3D video on Valorant in Motion design style. How do you like it? | Making of

    Valorant | 3D Motion Video

Link to video on Vimeo: Valorant | 3D Motion Video on Vimeo

    How this video was created

Hello! In this article, I'll show you how I created a fan video for the online shooter Valorant.

The video was created for the same fans of the game like me, so the first thing we did was survey the players on various social networks. Based on the survey, the concept and style of the video were built.

When creating a video, I went through several stages:

    Rough animation

At this stage, rough versions of scenes were created using primitive 3D objects (various cubes, cones, etc.), as well as 3D models of weapons and game characters.

Thus, the initial environment of all the scenes of the video was created, as well as the camera and the main objects in the frame were animated:

    https://i.redd.it/lj1aramuj0161.gif

    https://i.redd.it/83pvbudwj0161.gif

Filling the video and applying a color palette

After the animation was worked out, all the primitives were replaced with full-fledged 3D models, some of them were taken from the game, the rest were modeled independently.

Next, I applied simple colored materials to see how well the scenes fit together. In the selection of colors, I mainly tried to focus on the color palette of the characters and the design of the game.

    https://i.redd.it/kzjfi7uek0161.gif

    https://i.redd.it/1wnapqwgk0161.gif

Creating materials and working with lighting

This stage is almost final and takes a lot of time, but it is very interesting. As you work out the materials and create lighting, you can clearly see how much the video changes and gradually takes the form of a finished product. In terms of lighting, I classify all scenes in the video into two types: 1. Dark scenes with a lot of neon lighting; 2. Light scenes using special sky maps (HDRI) that simulate real sunlight.

    https://i.redd.it/qt2q9x9dl0161.gif

    https://i.redd.it/jj1a7a6el0161.gif

    https://i.redd.it/pae3a5ifl0161.gif

    Embedding footage

The footage is also integrated into the video. There are two such scenes and they differ in that in one of them, 3D objects are integrated into the footage, and in the second, the footage is integrated into the 3D environment.

    https://i.redd.it/quqyo3oml0161.gif

    https://i.redd.it/ykgdvbinl0161.gif

More details about the implementation of the footage, as well as the creation of the entire video, can be seen in my video on YouTube: How I Created a Fan Video for Online Shooter Valorant | making of. The video is in Russian, but English subtitles can be used.

How do you like the video? Write your impressions in the comments!

Thank you all for your attention!

Unranked 7 point victory game mode?

    Posted: 23 Nov 2020 04:29 AM PST

Might be a nice addition instead of spike rush.

Good for practice with abilities, map discovery and gunplay/economy

Maybe even have the option to choose attacker/defender for the full game to practice each separately. (I feel like I'm better at attacking than defending most games)

About half the length of a normal unranked game (maximum of 15 rounds) 7 points to win

    Any opinions?

The whole "My aim is gone" thing

    Posted: 23 Nov 2020 06:09 AM PST

"My aim is MIA""My aim disappeared, if you see it tell it i said hi""RIP aim"

Yo, do I have to make a sacrifice to the God of Aim before every match ? Now I just laugh and cope with it but still, if my aim was a dude, I would sacrifice him to the Daedras like Lydia in Skyrim.

Sometimes I win or make second in a Deathmatch, sometimes I'm match MVP with 30+ kills and a victory, and sometimes, well, I have to ask, what the *u** ?

Yesterday in unrated aim was completely gone for 8 matches in a row with every bad decision I could make and every stupid mistake I could commit (never had 8 defeats in a row, that's so rude). I wasn't tilted, I just... Well. I just don't know.

And then suddenly I had a match where I carried my whole team, headshot'd my way to bomb sites and we won 13-5.

I'm not complaining, I would like to understand better what is at stake, and how to become more consistent !

Also looking for 25+ pals to play with ! EU/Iron2

    Team sabotaging

    Posted: 23 Nov 2020 03:45 AM PST

I am playing this game for a month now and I met a lot of different kinds of people online..but these past few days some players I got matched with was just downright assholes. So this happened to me twice in two days,in the first time it was a phoenix who was obviously higher rank than iron and is playing on a second account because he would use his utilities against us and tries to get us killed and does a 1v 4 and let's the last enemy kill him,or just doesn't defuse the spike....he would try to get our players into corner and uses his damaging utilities and eventually kills them....you would think he will stop at one point and play normally.he never did!,that match we only won like 2 rounds because I was somehow able to damage him enough to get him killed early.the enemy team was happy because of the free win and you kinda can't blame them for it.... Then the second one .Thee very next day on my second competitive match of that day two guys a phoenix and breach would do the same.both with pin any player to the wall and uses their utilities to kill them.this also were higher ranked players on different account..for one of our teammate it was his first time playing competitive.you have no idea how annoying this is,you can't surrender, they won't let us win,if I exit the match I have to wait for another hour for next game...and again the enemy team was happy cause of the free win.We asked enemy team to report these players and they just straight up didn't listen.if the enemy players would have reported him those players probably will get banned(I hope so). I just wanna tell the community that if you are playing and you see your enemy team player/players team sabotaging just please please report them, you have no idea how annoying it gets........I hope I made my concerns clear and if anyone also faces this, do support.............

Getting guns for your teammates should count!!

    Posted: 23 Nov 2020 08:00 AM PST

I don't understand why getting those 2900 a piece phantom/vandal for your broke teammate doesn't even count a little bit in the stats of 'Avg combat score' when diffusing/planting of spike does.

Like Today when I was playing a passive Sage, I just died only 6 time while my teammates where like 10 or 12 (avg) so I ended up buying guns for them. ( I bought a phantom 4-5 times in that game for them) and we ended up winning and I was last on stat table when the game ended!! ( I was Sage so I had 8+ assist too)

imo getting guns for teammates should be evaluated!

Rank it's been crazy on low elo!

    Posted: 23 Nov 2020 01:49 PM PST

For the past couple days i've been amazed how bad rank actually been....

    Facts about low elo games:

1 in "5" games you have an actual full team.
there is waaaay too many smurfs that are "tired" of their rank
    there is always backsit gaming

with only that how the hell am I suppose to do anything at all.

    Any advice?

    Soloqueue Ranked Bingo Card

We've all been there right? Well now after your team goes 3-13 you can fill out this bingo card afterward and see how you did! My last game filled approximately 10 of these spaces
