    Toxicity needs to stop

    Posted: 12 Aug 2021 05:35 AM PDT

Me and my friend wanted to play a unrated game so we did, my friend asked if someone could play smoke. The first thing one of our teammates responded with was "Shut the **** up" and things like that, they proceeded to troll the rest of the game using Killjoy's nano-swarms and Phoenix's fire to damage us. My friend is scared to use voice chat now, people spread lies and tell the other team to report us for "Threats" and such when we haven't done anything. This is a major issue within the community and it ruins the experience. This is not how the community should be.

OVER 9000!!! of you created a TEAMS.gg profile last week. We'd like to find out how you're getting on.

Hey! A couple of weeks ago we launched TEAMS.gg/valorant and have been overwhelmed with the support, positivity and feedback from you all. <3

    https://preview.redd.it/8h7419l2iyg71.png?width=2286&format=png&auto=webp&s=80bc9247a4051da4519ccbaec6d9805dd422b585

Lots of you have been giving feedback - we've been listening and here's what we've fixed so far:

    • UI Changes
      • Moved the edit profile photo and bio so it's more easily found
      • Player cards on the discover page now hide after sending a connection request
      • The notification icon now displays as 'seen' correctly
      • Your connected Riot account is now displayed on the edit page
    • Connections now display correctly on mobile (Thanks Olivier)
    • Changing your connected Riot account now pulls the correct stats
    • Improved the rate at which we query the VALORANT API so you see more accurate stats (Thank you Riot! <3)
    • Lots of other bugs smashed 🔨

We're looking forward to adding new features you've requested. Here's what we're working on:

    • Increasing the number of requests answered by:
      • Creating a Discord Bot and adding push notifications
      • Making sure everyone verifies their email
      • Only matching you with active players
      • Encouraging people to respond to requests when they revisit the site
    • Adding new ways to communicate with each other (We'll help you "Break the ice")
    • Allowing you to report (so we can drop the ban hammer if needed)
    • And lots more

So far, thousands of you have met new players through the site and we hope this helps more of you find friends to play with, rank up faster and avoid toxicity.

Let us know if you run into any issues or if you have any other feedback.

I think having the ranks rumored in the beta would be so much cooler

I think having the ranks rumored in the beta would be so much cooler

    https://preview.redd.it/al1xoj6qmxg71.png?width=1920&format=png&auto=webp&s=e67eafffd3c028240093749c6cec030b2688c43c

I remember that back in the beta before ranked was released this was how the ranks were rumored to look, I have no idea why they decided against it and instead go with what we have in the game right now but in my opinion, this would be so much cooler to have in the game. Right now the ranks are pretty generic and boring and I think it sounds way cooler to say that you are a legend in Valorant instead of saying that you are Plat in Valorant. And I think the colors are more interesting as well. And although this wouldn't change the ranked games themselves I still think that this would make ranked more interesting than just being names of metals and diamonds.

Edit: they should keep radiant because valorant rank is confusing.

    Posted: 11 Aug 2021 10:44 PM PDT

Stop talking when you don't need to.

Even if you get 100 games in a row where your teammates bait you and suck total ass you telling them doesn't do anything for you or them.

It's just a game, you aren't going to change the way they aim or play by bullying them.

Just comm like a level-headed person and smarten up. Where has being rude and ignorant gotten you before?

Friend is getting sexually harassed in-game and I want to help

    Posted: 12 Aug 2021 10:11 AM PDT

My friend and I play Valorant together a lot and it's great, we both have a blast, but sometimes she solo queues and gets cursed out because she isn't a guy. When I queue with her people are generally chill and never sexist (Idk how but that's how it be) but I'm not always there to help. I heard of a discord server with all female players (I think it was called Galorant?) and I was wondering how she might be able to join. Any help would be appreciated, I just want my friend to be able to play in a non-toxic environment.

TLDR: I would like to know how I could get my friend to be able to join an all female Valorant server so she isn't harassed/has support in-game.

    Random Yoru buff ideas

    Posted: 12 Aug 2021 01:35 PM PDT

Riot said Yoru buffs are delayed indefinitely, so maybe they're back to the drawing board. I've been playing Yoru pretty much exclusively for awhile now so here are some ideas that could make him stronger.

    • If Gatecrash is on cooldown, getting kills and/or assists reduces time. Basically combining the current cooldown system with the old one.
    • All abilities incl. flashes are quickcast. Default behavior for TP and decoy is the current right-click behavior. "Use" to send in motion. Pathing is based on crosshair placement at original time of cast.
    • Audio cues when Decoy is heard/seen by enemies. Maybe voicelines like "they hear me..." when heard and "they know its a fake" when seen.
    • Enemies affected by a Yoru flash are also deafened. Would make flash-TP plays more viable.
    • After TP'ing, re-cast Gatecrash within 2-5 seconds to return to original location (consumes a decoy charge?)
    • Gatecrash itself acts as a flashbang when Yoru TPs
    • I-Frames when activating Gatecrash, similar to his ult
    • Decoy can be placed remotely within a certain range
    • Any enemies within audible range of Gatecrash appear on the minimap
    • Overhealed/Bonus HP when a decoy is active.

Am I the toxic one, and what would you have done?

    Posted: 12 Aug 2021 04:42 AM PDT

Hi guys, sorry for the wall of text below.

My last game got to me quite a bit with the toxicity, even as it started the two toxic ones instalocked. I was playing Sage on Bind (unrated by the way), and we lose the attacking pistol round. In round 2 we try to attack B site, it was me, Raze and Jett in a 3v2, Raze and I on long, and Jett just entered the site. Our Raze was on 75 HP and Jett was on 50 so as I was about to heal our Jett the Raze said down the mic "heal me motherfucker" (bear in mind that that was the first thing he said all game).

I refused to heal the Raze and then was 1 tapped before getting the heal off on the Jett. The next round the raze was being toxic and the Jett messaged "Sege you need heal, you have brain?". This really pissed me off (mainly because it was my first game). I proceed to play like normal though and when entering the site I was the lowest HP, so naturally healed myself. The raze then threw his nade at me. He continued to nade me for the next 2 rounds. So in round 5 I just decided to go back to spawn and wall myself in and leave my computer for a minute as I was angry.

I was bottom fragging at this point and the Jett and Raze were still being toxic, I will admit I'm not a perfect person so when Jett said again that my only job was to heal the duelists, I reminded him that it was his job to actually enter sites and try and get kills (he was in 3rd place and doing badly). I then muted them both. They were both spamming to report me in chat before I muted them.

I just decided after that to play normally with them muted, but as it was unrated and I'm not dealing with disrespect in unrated I just refused to heal the Raze and didn't go out of my way to heal the Jett, I know it's petty but seeing as it's unrated I didn't care enough for the win, if it was competitive I would have just healed them like normal even though the toxicity.
The funniest part was it was a fairly even split on the kills with me slightly lagging behind at the end but I had loads of assists, and it was our Reyna who was the only one who you could potentially say was carrying.

End of the day, I wasn't perfect but was I really in the wrong. What would you have done? I'm also aware that this wasn't even a terrible example of toxicity, they weren't threatening me or saying extremely horrible stuff (I've experienced plenty of that in my time playing video games) but it just really annoyed me.

Tldr: Raze and Jett being toxic, I decided to stop healing them, as it was only unrated, am I in the wrong.

    Purpose of smokes on defense

    Posted: 12 Aug 2021 08:46 AM PDT

I recognize this is a pretty newbie question to ask (which makes sense since I'm new to FPS games), but I wonder if people can give me their thoughts on what the purpose of smokes are on defense. I've got a reasonable idea of what they're for on offense and am able to intuit lineups on that basis (while also watching videos). I'm having much more trouble not screwing with my teammates on defense through bad smoke placement and have tended to not use them at all on defense unless explicitly asked. I've tried asking my friends, but I think people misunderstand my level of expertise because they inevitably start throwing lineups at me with no explanation as to how they came up with them. A simple explanation of how you think about using them would be much appreciated!

How do you coordinate pushes with low elo teammates?

    Posted: 12 Aug 2021 11:35 AM PDT

Hi, reaching out cause I've been on a very big losing streak - I'm a b3/s1 player with kinda bad game sense. I play a lot with my friend from iron so our team comp is usually lots of iron/bronzes.

The problem I run into is: my teammates make a lot of noise at the start of the round and use a lot of random utility causing the enemy team to rotate early and use a bunch of their mollys/smokes. Our team gets stuck in main just waiting. If I call a rotate, usually my whole team rotates very loudly and so they know we're rotating.

To people who are better than me: what's the simplest way to push with random teammates? I'm not good at calling plays but no one else does, so I try my best.

    Thanks for the help!
